Map of Americans of Finnish ancestry
Thanks for the information, brother. Always nice to know where in the States our fellow finns are.
Eli ton kartan mukaan meikäläisiä pitäisi siis olla Wisconsinin osavaltiossa eniten jos jotain tämä nyt sattuu kiinnostamaan.Ymmärtääköhän kukaan siellä Suomea? :D

Ei varmaan osaa.
On meikäläisellä sukulasia Minesotassa, olisi kivaa käydä niitä katsomassa.:)

it's funny, you should think the Scandinavians would look for "better pastures" when emigrating from their homeland. At the very least, just a place where the environment isn't as harsh, but no, it seems to be in our blood to find places abroad that looks like home :D
I myself spend a year in Minnesota, and to my surprise, almost 90% of the ancestry was Scandinavian, the remainder being Germans and Dutchmen!
although i must admit i was in the central parts of the state, not as far north as the fins are shown on the map. Most of the people in my area were Swedes, Norwegians & Danes :viking:

I'm from the upper Midwest of America and my Norwegian relatives "homesteaded" both in North Dakota and Minnesota where they built up their farms, farming lands, towns, etc. It may be a bit harsh in the Winter times, but we're a rugged people and can adapt quickly. I know some Finns from Minnesota, but mostly just Norwegians and some Swedes. They don't call that area "Little Norway" for nothing. :p
