Här är barnen en viktig grupp. Tidigare förväntades barnen bidra till försörjningen men nu förväntas de bidra till konsumtionen. Barn är gulliga och föräldrarna vill se dem glada, naturens sätt att få föräldrarna skydda dem, t.o.m med sina egna liv. Detta ses nu i brevlådorna som fylls av reklam inför den heliga konsumtionsorgasmen, julen. Leksakskataloger fyllda av saker.

För att få alla prylar som man absolut behöver måste man ha pengar vilket innebär arbete, d.v.s att använda den tid man har till godo i den här existensen för att tjäna in pengar åt andra så att de också kan konsumera och i retur få en liten del av vinsten för egen konsumtion.
Shopping har blivit en livsstil, förmågan att konsumera är synonymt med det moderna samhället. Alla högtider kan härledas till bondesamhället eller längre tillbaka, som skördehögtider, firande av ljusets återkomst (jul), påsk, midsommar eller halloween har numera kommersialiserats och däribland importerade högtider, t.ex ramadan, används som skäl för att handla mer.

Konsumtionssamhället har förslavat människorna till lydiga nickedockor och att bete sig likt dresserade pudlar för att få ta del av masskonsumtionen. Kapitalismen attackerar med reklam och du ”måste” ha genom alla tänkbara kanaler, brevlådan, tidningar, tv, radio, e-post, telefånförsäljning med prylar som vi inte visste att vi absolut behövde förens vi fick kännedom om deras existens.
